Digital Services
The development of low-cost and global communication options is transforming how mariners receive and use critical navigational information. As the maritime industry adapts to a changing digital landscape, it opens avenues to explore novel digital AtoN and supporting services.
We conduct research and evaluate the evolving digital infrastructure within the maritime industry, addressing key themes such as cybersecurity, AI and machine learning, all the while helping to develop new innovative services that meet emerging navigational needs.
We are founder members of the Maritime Connectivity Platform (MCP), have developed prototype e-Navigation digital services and we are actively working with international colleagues on the development of S100/S200 data exchange.
Our prototype architecture allows us to demonstrate novel capabilities such as authenticated virtual AtoN through our test facilities in Harwich and remotely across the GLA estate. This allows users on a ship to confirm that the data they are receiving has come from a trusted source.
